Sonja Lohmiller was born in Berlin. She first studied at the Dresden Conservatory, where she graduated with distinction in 2001. Her predilection for the Lied led her to perfect her skills as an accompanist with Karl-Peter Kammerlander in Weimar and Phillip Moll in Leipzig, as well as with Pierre Goy in Lausanne as part of a postgraduate course in fortepiano. She completed these three courses with the congratulations of the jury.
After completing her Concert Diploma in Leipzig and her Soloist Diploma in Weimar, she was engaged at the Conservatories of Leipzig and Magdeburg as well as at the Schola Cantorum in Leipzig.
In 2006, she joined the Opera-Studio International in Zürich. From 2007 to 2010, Sonja Lohmiller was a lecturer at the Bremen Conservatory and in 2010, at the Weimar Conservatory. Since the 2010-2011 season, she has been working as vocal coach/chef de chant at the Bern Opera House.
